Family

I have had a lovely few weeks catching up with family. I have seen my parents and children. Yesterday my Gran phoned up and as my son is visiting she was able to speak to him. It was lovely.
When you are younger it is easy to take family for granted. You think they will always be there but in reality I know from my own life that isn't always the case. You can lose family members unexpectedly and it takes a very long time to even begin to adjust to this kind of loss.
This means that it is important to appreciate the family you have.
I know some families can be very hard work and at times relationships can be strained to the point they aren't really working. In some families differences between family members may be so great that a relationship is impossible for a while or even permanently.
In most other cases family relationships require work but the rewards can be enormous.
The thing about families is that the members know you so well. You can't really pretend to them and while they can press your buttons they matter so much. They can be there for you in a way other people may not be and you can be there for them.
I am coming to realise the importance of family more and more as I get older.
