Animals
I have been thinking about what animals bring us. I have been lucky enough to know a good number of animals in my life. I am focusing on Fisher, Ollie, Lovely and George.
Fisher was a cute little ginger female rescue cat who came to live with me when I bought my house. She was fierce and friendly in turn. Her message was, 'don't mess with me but if you treat me well you will discover my lovely side.' She taught me to be independent and determined.
Ollie was my rascal. He was a Jack Russel-Whippet cross. He enjoyed life to the max and taught me not to take life too seriously. He accepted me exactly as I am and that helped me to believe in myself.
Lovely lives with Graham. She is a friendly and funny dog when you get to know her. She is grateful for the small things in life such as regular food and a comfortable sofa! She has also taught me to be unselfish. Much as I would love her to live with me all the time, at this point in my life my circumstances don't lend themselves to having a dog. I work, and the commute adds to the time I am away from home. Lovely is better off living with Graham and the boys. ( 2 dogs)
George came to live with me for a while around 8 years ago. He went to live with my daughter and stayed with her until recently. George has recently started living with me again. I am finding him funny, friendly and relaxed. He is a great character and companion.
I learn so much about life and myself by being around animals and am grateful to have them in my life.

perception
Perception is individual. We may both be looking at the same thing but we interpret it in different ways. If I ask you what you see I can learn from you rather than assuming I am right and you are wrong.
Intuition is a feeling you get about things, you can't quite put your finger on why you think the way you do but your gut tells you when something is wrong or right.
It is said that intuition is accurate but our interpretation of what may be wrong/right isn't always on track. Intuition gets the blame when we should really be querying our interpretation of events.
Someone may seem grumpy when i talk to them and I may conclude they don't like me but inreality it may be that they are simply not feeling well.

Family
I have had a lovely few weeks catching up with family. I have seen my parents and children. Yesterday my Gran phoned up and as my son is visiting she was able to speak to him. It was lovely.
When you are younger it is easy to take family for granted. You think they will always be there but in reality I know from my own life that isn't always the case. You can lose family members unexpectedly and it takes a very long time to even begin to adjust to this kind of loss.
This means that it is important to appreciate the family you have.
I know some families can be very hard work and at times relationships can be strained to the point they aren't really working. In some families differences between family members may be so great that a relationship is impossible for a while or even permanently.
In most other cases family relationships require work but the rewards can be enormous.
The thing about families is that the members know you so well. You can't really pretend to them and while they can press your buttons they matter so much. They can be there for you in a way other people may not be and you can be there for them.
I am coming to realise the importance of family more and more as I get older.

Creating a new blog
I have had lots of thoughts lately. They have been partially formed ideas and as a result they have been milling about in my head for a while now and I really don't know where to put them. I have started to overthink my writing lately. I know it is just a phase as I have experienced this before but I know that left unchecked this phase can go on for some time.
Some people call it writers block but I don't really feel blocked. I just think I am thinking too long and too hard before starting to get anything down on paper.
This blog has been created for me just to get these random thoughts down on paper. The posts will have the kernels of ideas that may or may not form into something a bit more concrete. They will be public but I don't know if they will all get posted on social media sites like Facebook
.
I see this blog as a diary of thoughts that I can capture in writing and park ready for possible future development.
Let's see how this goes!
